Built by a teacher.
Guided by a mother.
Melissa Gonzalez
Founder • Texas Certified Teacher • Texas TIA Exemplary Teacher
For more than fifteen years, I've helped elementary students build strong academic foundations, confidence, and a love of learning. Today, I lead Legacy Foundations Academy, a teacher-led private elementary school in Bulverde serving Grades 1–3.
I was honored to earn the Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) Exemplary Teacher designation, recognizing strong student growth and effective classroom instruction. I'm also a Texas-certified elementary educator trained in Science of Reading, ESL, and Gifted & Talented education.
As both a teacher and a mother, I've learned that children thrive when they're truly known, supported, challenged, and treated with dignity each day.
That's why I created Legacy Foundations Academy in Bulverde.
This isn't simply a smaller version of a traditional school. It's the school I wanted for my own children, built around what more than fifteen years in the classroom taught me children need most: strong relationships, meaningful learning, and adults who truly know them.

A Teacher-Led Elementary School in Bulverde, Texas
A message from
the founder
Watch a short introduction to the heart behind
Legacy Foundations Academy.

For more than fifteen years, I have taught elementary students and helped children grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
But becoming a mother changed the way I experienced school.
I found myself paying attention to every classroom photo, wondering what my child's day actually felt like.
Was he confident?
Did he feel understood?
Was someone noticing when he was struggling?
I began seeing school through the eyes of a parent, not just a teacher.
And I realized how much families carry.
The worry.
The uncertainty.
The evenings spent helping children make sense of assignments, filling gaps, and carrying parts of the school day home.
Legacy Foundations Academy was built from those realizations.
A place where children are deeply known.
Where support happens early.
Where learning is handled during the school day.
And where families can finally exhale.
Why this school exists

Why "Legacy"?
Legacy Foundations Academy is named in honor of my father, whose belief in education shaped my life long before I understood its impact.
He believed education created independence, opportunity, and the ability to build a meaningful life. Long before I was old enough to understand what college meant, he was already investing in my future because he believed in what it could become.
Looking back, I realize he wasn't just investing in my education.
He was investing in every child I would one day teach.
Then I became a mother.
Seeing school through a parent's eyes gave that legacy an entirely new meaning. I experienced the hopes, questions, and quiet worries that come with trusting someone else with your child each day. It changed not only how I saw education, but how I wanted children and families to experience it.
Legacy Foundations Academy exists where those two stories meet: my father's belief in me and the perspective I gained as a mother.
Today, every child who walks through our doors becomes part of that legacy.
Not because they're carrying my family's story forward.
Because they are building one of their own.
What we believe
These aren't marketing statements. They're the principles that guide every classroom decision we make.
Children should feel understood, not managed.
Strong academics and compassionate support belong together.
Learning belongs at school. Family belongs at home.
Every child deserves to be deeply known.
Children learn to encourage one another, not compete with one another.
Technology is a tool. Teachers lead learning.
Every child deserves a teacher who believes in them.
Parents deserve partnership, not surprises.

Built with long-term intention
Long-term vision

Legacy Foundations Academy is beginning with a small founding class of seven students.
This allows the classroom to remain focused, calm, and well-supported from the start. Students are truly known, and support happens in the moment.
The goal is to grow thoughtfully over time while maintaining the same clarity, structure, and level of attention families value.
This school is being built to last.
It is being built as a stable, long-term school families can rely on over time.
